How is Meta Description an important part of SEO?

Meta Descriptions make a lot of sense when it comes to ranking high in Search Engines. So, what are Meta Descriptions? In easy words, these are the short excerpts which are written for making the Search Engines aware, that the content is relevant for the user’s search query.

You can easily find the meta descriptions in the search snippet. While you add the information which is relevant for the customer to soak in – what happens is, google looks for manually written descriptions, before it looks for anything in the body of your content.

“They are like a pitch that convince the user that the page is exactly what they’re looking for.”

–In the event that a page’s content is not the most relevant source based on the user’s query, Google will then turn to the manually written meta description to display in the search snippet–

Other than this, the writer or anyone who posts the blog needs to make all the meta description content within 160 characters. It actually needs to fit in and have the relevant keywords in it – Caution: Keyword Stuffing in Meta Description should always be avoided.

It should be actionable, in an active voice. If you consider the meta description the invitation to the page, you can’t just make it “A mixed metaphor describing a non-existent, yet implicitly high level of qualification.” That’s a dull description. I’ll explain using some examples later.

With that being said, it has become more important than ever for site owners to write good meta descriptions.

“Good meta descriptions are short blurbs that describe accurately the content of the page.”

The most common problems site owners need to watch out for when creating meta descriptions is neglecting to create them at all. Another issue is using the same meta description for all pages across the site. Another problems could be creating Spammy – Fraudulent and Flowery websites, which do not serve the reader’s purpose.

Generally, it is required that the Mets Descriptions should fit within ‘160 Characters’ only – but varies with the fact that on which device is the content being viewed on.

Being an important part of the SEO, Meta Descriptions are hard to tackle for a laymen – because you need to exactly provide the content which Google thinks is subtle enough to prove its relevance.

Meta description tags, while not tied to search engine rankings, are extremely important in gaining user click-through from SERPs. These short paragraphs are actually a webmaster’s opportunity to advertise the content to searchers and decide whether the content contains the information or not.

A page’s meta description should intelligently (read: in a natural, non-spammy way) employ the keywords that page is targeting, but also create a compelling description that a searcher will want to click. It should be directly relevant to the page it describes, and unique from the descriptions for other pages.

So, for ranking higher in the SERPs, it is important to add the meta descriptions properly. For more SEO related help and blogs, keep visiting us. Also, if you are looking for SEO service or any other digital marketing service, then feel free to visit mag-corp.com OR call us at +91 99100 70501.
